If you are new to boating the amount of things to think about can seem quite daunting at first. But don't let that put you off.

Also, whatever you do, don't worry about being a novice boater. Everybody has to start somewhere. It does not matter about your age or ability. Boating can be fun for everyone.

If you are worried about taking your boat through a lock for the first time at Chichester or Port Solent, for example, they can come and explain to you what happens and how best to do it and even come with you the first time you have a go to help you gain the confidence you need.
