Local information
Q. Where can I stock up on groceries?
A. A huge 24-hour Tesco just around the corner from the marina, which sells just about everything. Closer to home, there is a convenience store on site.
Q. Where can I eat?
A. The Boardwalk has such a variety of wine bars, restaurants and pubs to eat that there is somewhere different to try every night. There are some lovely pubs over Portsdown Hill in Hambledon and Denmead. Staff at marina reception can help with booking taxis. The Indian Palace provides takeaways, but does not deliver.
Q. What is there to do if it rains?
A. The on-site six-screen Odeon cinema is always popular and there are plenty of shops to browse on The Boardwalk, fashion, furniture, kitchen equipment, games and toys. You can swim or visit the gym in the David Lloyd Health and Fitness Club. Ask at marina reception for special deals. More details www.portsolent.com
Q. Can I sail to Gunwharf Quays?
A. If crossing to Gunwharf Quays or the town camber you must
ask permission from the QHM on Channel 11 and cross north of Ballast Buoy. All vessels must book a berth with
Gunwharf Quays Berths Office prior to their arrival so that QHM can be informed.
The QHM may refuse permission to cross the deep-water channel for vessels
without a booking.
Contact Gunwharf
Berths on CH80, telephone 023 9283 6732. Many of our berth holders prefer to
use one of their Premier Advantage free visitor nights with a trip to Premier
Marinas Gosport and visit Gunwharf using the Gosport Ferry.
Q. Is there a
time limit on storing my boat ashore?
A. We have plenty
of space - room for up to 500 boats, and lifting equipment to handle almost
anything - a 40-ton travel hoist, 22-ton boat mover and a 12-ton all-terrain
crane.
Q. When is Free Flow
in operation?
A. We can run
Free Flow as the tide reaches the level of the marina basin. A flashing orange
light indicates it is in progress. During Neap Tides and extreme Spring High
Tides, Free Flow is not possible. click on to this link to find out freeflow times or onto the tide tables for tides and free flow
